Florence Welch had to cancel some performances due to unexpected surgery that ultimately saved her life

As she revealed in a recent Instagram statement. Just a week after calling off various Florence + the Machine concerts, including appearances at the Zurich Openair and Rock en Seine festivals, Welch opened up about her medical situation. She expressed her regrets for the cancellations and clarified that her foot was not the issue this time. Instead, she required emergency surgery for undisclosed reasons, a topic she didn’t feel ready to delve into fully. Nonetheless, she emphasized the surgery’s life-saving impact.

Welch announced her plan to return to the stage on September 1st to conclude the Dance Fever tour in Lisbon and Malaga. While acknowledging that her performance might be less energetic, she encouraged fans to bring the energy in her place. She found solace in the creative process and mythology, citing the intriguing, prophecy-filled narrative of Dance Fever as a source of strength and catharsis during this challenging period.

The Dance Fever tour had experienced a previous setback in November 2022 when Florence + the Machine had to postpone it during its U.K. leg. This was due to Welch’s broken foot, which she bravely danced on until an X-ray revealed the injury’s severity. Despite her reluctance to delay shows, she prioritized her health and healing, recognizing that performing with an injury could lead to further harm.
